Editing

Currently open to submissions.

Working for 10 years as a literary agent, I placed novels and non-fiction projects at each of the Big 5 publishing houses. My favorite part of the job was editing, making a manuscript the highest quality version of itself. I love developing characters and stories, discussing plot, slashing what doesn’t belong and polishing what remains.

For a manuscript consultation, we’ll start with a call to go over your book and what sort of feedback you’re looking for. Then I’ll read the manuscript, adding margin commentary the second time, and I’ll write you a feedback letter of my overall thoughts. We finish with a follow-up call to go over the notes and any of your final questions.

Rates start at $1.5k for a novel up to 80,000 words, or for non-fiction, a completed book proposal.

If you’re interested, for novelists, you can send your first chapter, a summary of your book, and word count to timely hand claps at g mail dot com (no spaces). For non-fiction, please send the overview of your book and a sample chapter.
